The multi-stakeholder model will only work if it is seen to be credible and workable. Yet recent moves do not boost confidence in that model. Our legitimate concerns on the "dot wine" and "dot vin" domain names were completely ignored by the Governmental Advisory Committee of ICANN. It is not acceptable to overrule those objections and press on regardless, as if the Internet were only there to serve US interests.
